ABOUT THE SHOW AND SEASON 1 "BEDROCK"
Season 1 of En Masse shares stories from the Depression-era Works Progress Administration to the present in Barre, Vermont—the long-time “Granite Center of the World.” Each episode features either a contemporary oral history or an oral history from the Federal Writers’ Project of the 1930s. The immersive oral histories are read by narrators who then share their own stories and reflections on the oral history they performed. Framed by Medina’s commentary, these individual stories paint a larger picture of lives shaped by capitalism, de-industrialization, automation, and globalization. The podcast explores both the universal experience of class, as well as its particularities, depending on who the workers are and where they live.
